An illustrational book concept about things that tend to change if they tend to become too unrealistic.

If we were to consider living within a Simulation then possibly the algorithm(s) prefer longer lasting calculations, especially when big efforts & energy are spend to create efficient storytelling history.

When such an algorithm would calculate that for example too many people get access to plane-travel, then it will create a realistic story-line possibility that will prevent masses of people traveling, where mass travel would be unrealistic in regards to “planet” (algorithm) sustainability.

Symptoms of such digital interference (balancing) could be viruses active within society. The first symptoms would be relatively harmless; while lifeforms in question are tested on inquisitiveness & (group) learning behavior.
